Synthesis of paracyclophane fragments

Our team is interested in the diversity-oriented-synthesis of [2.2]paracyclophane fragments. These motifs may be incorporated into new RNA ligands targeting single-stranded regions that fold to create particular three-dimensional architectures.
More generally, the development of efficient methods for the selective functionalization of [2.2]paracyclophanes offers the possibility to explore new chemical spaces and to access planar chiral aromatic compounds with innovative physicochemical properties (optical, stereoelectronic and catalytic properties).

Recently, we have developed a very simple procedure for the large-scale preparation of enantiopure paracyclophane derivatives.
